Attorney Profile

Dawn M. Papaeliou attended the University of Nevada-Reno where she completed her undergraduate degree in pre-veterinary medicine.  Ms. Papaeliou graduated with high honors in May 1997. Despite being accepted for admission in the veterinary medicine program at various universities including Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, she prepared for a career within the legal profession.

In 1999, Ms. Papaeliou was admitted to the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. She graduated with a Juris Doctorate in May 2002.  Ms. Papaeliou passed the State Bar Exam on her first attempt and was admitted to practice law in the State of Nevada in December 2002.

Dawn Papaeliou first gained experience representing debtors in chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcies while working for a local general litigation firm in 2003.  Due to her interest in bankruptcy law, she joined the office of Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee Yvette Weinstein. Ms. Papaeliou assisted the trustee until December 2005, in the administration of chapter 7 bankruptcy estates, liquidation of assets, and distribution of estate funds to creditors.

Ms. Papaeliou operated the Law Office of D. M. Papaeliou, P.C., in 2006, until she joined the Department of Justice Office of the United States Trustee in Reno, Nevada, in July 2006, as a Paralegal Specialist.  She investigated the eligibility of debtors in chapter 7 cases and ensured compliance with the United States Bankruptcy Code.  Dawn Papaeliou also provided oversight of the administration of chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees and monitored chapter 11 reorganizations in the Reno area.

In late May 2007, Ms. Papaeliou returned to the Las Vegas area as debtor's counsel.  Today, Ms. Papaeliou continues her volunteer work in the Las Vegas community and her dedication to debtors' issues.

Ms. Papaeliou opened the Law Office of Dawn Papaeliou, P.C., to offer the Las Vegas community an alternative to the Las Vegas bankruptcy mills.  The Law Office of Dawn Papaeliou, P.C., never treats a case as just another file.  This Firm has a limited caseload to ensure every case gets the full attention  it deserves.  Every case is handled by Ms. Papaeliou at every stage of the process.

Ms. Papaeliou, having watched friends and family members wrestle with and agonize over financial problems, easily empathizes with clients.  For this reason, the Firm's sole purpose is to help individuals experiencing financial difficulty obtain a fresh start through chapter 7 and chapter 13 relief.   This Firm was built on a commitment to pro-active representation because filing for bankruptcy should not be stressful or have unpredictable results.

This Firm provides full legal representation and advocacy.  As such, the Firm does not dabble in other areas of the law and restricts its practice to Ms. Papaeliou's interest in bankruptcy law.  Furthermore, this Firm has a limited caseload to ensure your case gets the full attention you deserve.  Your case will be handled by the attorney at every stage of the process.

Having represented hundreds of debtors in bankruptcy and being experienced in the operations of the local Chapter 7 panel trustees, Chapter 13 trustees, and the Office of the United States Trustee, Ms. Papaeliou has the skills necessary to guide debtors through the treacherous waters of the United States Bankruptcy Code.   With knowledge of the inner workings of the entire bankruptcy system, not just one facet of the process, this Firm is the right choice for your chapter 7 or chapter 13 needs.
